Folk duo 'Dave and Kim'

Dave was in this Banbury-based duo with guitarist/singer Kim Lord during 1983 and 1984. Our aim was to create original and thoughful arrangements of contemporary and traditional folk songs and tunes. Maybe we succeeded! Anyway, Kim and I did quite a few gigs (mostly freebies). We even played at a Teddy Bear Festival once, in Banbury Town Hall. I felt foolish dressed as a teddy bear. And my costume got in the way of my fiddle.

One spin-off from the duo were the Warwickshire Folklore events which we put on in various village halls, under the auspices of the Rural Warwickshire Agency. Another was Sun Rising Morris, for which I played fiddle, and also danced (badly). Kim was a much better dancer! And still another was my playing fiddle in a Mike Smith's production of The Wellesbourne Tree in March 1984, with Mike on guitar, Tony Freeman on bass, plus other musicians.
