I did just two gigs with musician and painter Rob Chilcott (who was also my boss in the local music shop where I worked) and other musicians as the Rat'n'Bat Barn Dance Band. We played loud and heavy folk-rock. Rob played electric guitar and I played fiddle.
The first of the two Rat'n'Bat gigs was in the back yard of the Wheatsheaf pub in Banbury. Half-way through the evening, the pub got a complaint about noise. The complaint came from the adjacent crematorium. When we wwere told, what did we do but chortle loudly through our PA, "Cor, we're raising the dead now, we're that good..." OK, we were young and insensitive then.
I have no idea where our second gig was.
